How does disease work? I am going through the dungeon for the second time with the same character, and I keep getting killed on level 8 -- by diseases contracted from a zombie, I suspect. Magic resistance does not seem to make any difference, thus I don't think I am being nailed by a hidden spell caster. I get a disease, and lose hit points like crazy, no matter how many healing potions I drink.

Stats: str 19; end 38; agi 69; mag 102

Unfortunately I don't have any levels in the 'miracle' spell.

Thus I would really like some 'cure disease' potions, as well as way to tell visually what afflictions are bothering you. The best way I saw this done was in the Might and Magic series 'Worlds of Xeen' where your character photo changed depending on whether you were in good shape, drunk, poisoned, diseased, or insane.

If you enable verbose mode (Menu Button -> Verbose On), it will display what attacks you are getting hit with. I imagine what you are encountering is Zombie Puke which can be a pretty bad DOT attack which stacks. Miracle could get rid of it. Though, your best option is to not get too close to the zombies with that attack. I do plan to add more potions at some point. Currently working on the expansion though.

I suspect that you are correct that it is zombie spit. Whatever it is, it burns like acid, doesn't change the colours of your stats the way diseases does, and kills you. But even with the verbose mode on, I don't get told 'the zombie spits at you' or some such. Can you check that the messages are enabled?

Do you get any creature attack messages when verbose looks like this in the menu: "Verbose On"?

I got many messages, including 'the zombie eats a corpse", but nothing that mentioned puking specifically. So from my point of view, I continue to die from "unknown causes".
