Uggh very frustrated. I'm level 13 and don't feel like starting over.

Ok, I was poisoned or diseased or whatever and running from a swamp hydra when I accidentally ran through a door and it auto saved. EXCEPT my Hit points were so low that now I die as soon as I load the game. Is there any way around this (like a previous save)?

I really dont feel like staring the whole thing over.

Thanks in advance for all your help

This reminds me of a thread I had with CodeZombie a few days back. I asked if he could disable the autosave when you do a level change. I suggested if perhaps we could toggle off the autosave feature. I was mostly thinking that traveling back up to easier levels (to look at the map, or find Zebo) is always a pain because you have to travel all the way back down to where you were. I have had a similar situation to what you are experiencing but fortunately, I wasn't as low as you are on HP. I was able to find some healing potions in time to keep it from becoming fatal.

I must admit that without knowing how the game mechanic works, I'm not sure what could be done. I'm assuming that with the act of loading the game, you die almost instantly and therefore cannot find any way of healing yourself because you never have control for a long enough time (to scrounge thru your inventory trying to find a potion, or to activate a spell). I'm sure that this was never CodeZombie's intent, but hopefully there is some way around this.

Well, those effects are tied to your character when you save.  I can see how this could be a pain.  Perhaps damage-based afflictions should be removed on level transition or even saving.  Instead, I can just reduce the player's life to a certain amount.  Though, he will always come out alive without the possibility of being dead locked.

Of course, if a person saves while they are surrounded by a bunch of creatures, then that is just a bad decision on their part.

For now, backup all of your save games.  They are in the Deadly Dungeons folder of you device.  If  you can zip them up and send them to me then I can fix it for you.

You can also try fixing it yourself.  Though, keep a backup of all the save games in case it doesn't work.

1. Copy all the save game files with your character's name on them to another location.

2. Start Deadly Dungeons.

3. Go to the Characters screen and browse to your character.

4. Press 'New Game'.

5. After you load up in a new game, quit to the menu and exit Deadly Dungeons.

6. Copy the global save file and level save files back to the DeadlyDungeons folder on your device.

7. Go back to the character in Deadly Dungeons and select Continue.

This may work for you.

One idea, that would change the dynamic of poisons in general.. Have poisons not kill you. They drop you to a minimum of 1 hp (poison is still active when you get to 1, so if you use a potion, you can lose right back down to 1). This makes it worthwhile to run and hide while poisoned, but makes it just as deadly if you stick around in the fight.

I'm not sure if I like the idea of status effects vanishing when you switch levels.  It takes away a sense of danger.  I've tried to flee a fight or two and ended up going down stairs into even more enemies.  I did manage to somehow survive, but it was tense there for a while (in a fun "oh crap" kind of way).
