Thank you very much for your answer. It’s great to have the feedbacks from the developer.
“Items can be picked up fairly easily in doorways. You just have to use the secondary way of selecting items. That is, to touch and hold. Touch and hold does not effect doorways, so it should provide an easy way to select the items. I still think I need to reduce the size of the door selection to be just the middle portion of the door though. Once I do that, I think this problem will be less noticable. I'll be sure to add this to the next weekly update.”
Reducing the size of the door might indeed reduce the problem. A get button next to the shield button could also help it and make it easy under any situation to take stuff around you. You could even pick up stuff “under” you. Unfortunately, the “hold” feature isn’t very intuitive.
“I will likely reduce the frequency of the goblin rock throw that stuns. Three goblins can stunlock you indefinitely. Though, there is a thing that can be done to counter the frequency of attacks from faster creatures. Increasing agility will increase player speed which will in effect slow down the attack frequency of all monsters. Player speed doesn't make you faster. Rather, it makes creatures slower in relation to your character. I really need to create a guide or faq and post it on the website so people know how things work.”
It’s great that faster character get it easier… Yet, I think a slower character should not get punished up to the point that encountering a single goblin is very difficult. One stun per battle should be enough, in my humble opinion. It can already means death in some situation and, it’s just a goblin afterall, not a Balrog overlord!
“If you press 'Get Up' your player should get up after being knocked down. There really isn't a death in the casual mode which is currently the only mode available.”
It doesn’t seem to happen all the time. I often waited a couple of minutes to no result. What about giving some sort of countdown to tell us how long we have to wait until our character relive? I also encountered a bug where my character would raise/drop indefinitely without being able to do anything, while fighting some sort of undead sorcerer on level 6.
As for permanent versus temporary death, that’s a tough one. Personally, I tend to prefer the traditional method of having to reload when you die because if feels more natural than lose consciousness in front of monster all the time and surviving. And it makes *really* not want to die, in some situations. With the current system, working as intended, it seems almost god mode, especially. |
