This has already been submitted to Jacob and he is addressing it, but wanted to post it here so others know it's being worked on.

When you get a call or text, when you press the "home" key on your device, or otherwise switch out of the application AND return, all the textures are missing. You can still see the polygons and placeholders, you can still move and fight, but you cannot see what you are doing.

[See attached screenshots]

This occurred to me (got a call) when I was on Level 10 (Throne) and getting ready for a big battle and really messed me up!!! Now I have to start over and spend all that time getting back to Level 10!

I have app switching working on the devices I have to test with.  Sounds like there may be some other devices that still don't work.  I'll be sure to check all the versions of Android on the emulators, and get some people with various Android phones to load up the game so I can see what the behavior is.

The Android OS does a good job of reloading textures for the app, but I guess I might have to do that manually in some cases.

Hitting the home and switching is now OK, but if I place my phone in standby (on my Eris, this is done by pressing the power button) and then bring it back up, I have the polygon issue again.

Thanks

Chief

Yesterday i upgraded my os to 2.2 custom froyo on my blade (Swedish Spring RLS3 Kelzsoca Lite Blue) and the problem doesn't exist. I think this was maybe 2.1 bug.

GSB is an CM7 (Gingerbread) variant for the Eris, so I don't think the standby portion of this issue is OS related.

Thanks

Well, I did find a post by a Google engineer about textures not being loaded when coming back to an OpenGL app.  It appears that the engineer felt something wasn't working as it should.  It make sense that in 2.2 reloading textures is now fixed.

I'm a little hesitant in applying a fix for this issue beyond what is already in there.  Loading textures up takes quite some time.  When switching back to the app it may have to take 30-45 seconds on some devices to come back if I do manual texture loading.

There is a workaround for those with this issue.  Just press menu and select 'save and quit'.  This will bring you back to the main menu.  If you press the back button on the main menu, the app will be killed.  Loading the app up again will then start the game up fresh.  You can then load your last save game.

Ya, I initially found the problem during character creation. When it occurred later in the game, I was able to solve the problem with Save & Quit.

Thanks
