Again, submitted via e-mail, posted here for anyone else interested:

The map completely erases all progress when you move from one area to another. This is good when moving to a new area, but not when moving from one known area to another. This is quickly seen going from Cavern-2 to Cavern-1 and back. Whatever you’ve explored should remain on the map.

Also, the feature showing red squares for enemies on the mini-map is very nice. Is it possible to show the same red squares on the larger map?

I've had the same problem but it's intermittent.  Also, when the map gets 'reset' it also resets the encounters/monsters on that level.

As for showing monsters all over the large map, I disagree.  The small map shows them and it makes sense because an alert adventurer would know something was out there.  Showing them all over the large map would imply some kind of cliarvoyant powers ;)

EDIT: As of the recent update it's still doing it.  I had to kill the first boss twice just to get out of that level because it 'forgot' that I'd done it already, along with forgetting the map.  It happens when I save a game and reload usually.

EDITED EDIT: It just did it to me again.  I am on level 8 and I saved my game and quit.  When I restarted it the map was blank except for where I was standing and just around the entrance.  It also reset all the monster encounters.

I've found it always best to enter the next level prior to saving...

That's really not acceptable in a release version of a game.

You may be running into an issue with having the device's usb plugged in while playing. This will make the sd card or internal storage unreadable to the game. I don't stop a person from playing, though, the game will not be able to save or load level progress. Be sure to turn off mounting the filesystem to prevent this. I'll do some testing just to make sure things are working.

No USB device connected in my case.  It isn't a total show stopper but it was a little annoying to have to redo levels.

Well, I've seen this occur once now. I'm not sure why it is occurring, but I'll fix it once I figure it out. Once in a while, it doesn't seem to save out the level data properly when moving between levels.

Ok, good news. I have been able to duplicate this bug consistently. The issue is when you load your game for the first time after launching the game. For some reason the level state data is not loaded on this first load. Though, if you go back to the main menu and load the game again, then everything loads up properly. I'll figure out why this is happening and fix it. In the mean time, just load up your save game a second time to correct the issue.

The workaround is great for now, thanks.  Hope you get it fixed soon but for now this is perfectly acceptible.
