Okay, so after a multi-phase combat with him, I got past the boss on level 14. I walked thru the pretty portal and arrived on level 15. Boy, I've never been so glad to see Zebo!

So I get my horse-trading done and now I plan on entering the maze. I find my way to the 3 monsters on the south-side and wipe them out. I noticed an exit door there to level 16. Still, I wanted to finish up the other part of level 15. So I wander some more, finally map out the entire level and come to the 3 statues. Like 1 or 2 other people who have posted here, I can't seem to get them to talk.

I can easily move up in-between the 3 of them so that if I were to take even one more step, I'd be standing on top of each of the 3 statues. You can even see the statues move towards me as I take my last step toward them. However they never speak to me. I've tried turning music off and then on (beautiful music, by the way) and there still isn't any speaking. I have tried approaching with different weapons, armor, and magic items and also without. Nothing seems to trigger them to speak. I also tried to SAVE AND EXIT and then reboot my tablet and get back into the game again. No good.

I even decided to try to move back to level 14. Can't do it. The portal I came through is apparently only one-way. (among other things, I wanted to go back to the big fight room on level 14 to see if there was a lot of money left behind. I seem to have lost about $3000-4000 when I passed to level 15. I don't recall seeing any comment of "my inventory is lighter" but upon making it to level 15, I had only about $1350 on me instead of about $5900. It made it a bit difficult negotiating with Zebo, I'll tell you!

So as a last resort, I decided the heck with it, and I went through the south door and on to level 16. HOLY CRAP! That Hydra seems unbeatable! Now, I'll grant you that perhaps I could have been a more serious min/maxer type of gamer and created the perfect hydra assassin player, but who knew?  So I ended up playing the game level by level and choosing what i though were good stats and skills. and getting myself through all the levels on up to character level 12, and here I am thinking I've got some pretty good gear. Stuff like a +32 helmet, a +64 Plate armor, a +28 edged shield, a 28d2 long sword.  I've got what I think are good stats such as: 206 HP, 144 MP, 146 AC, 63 STR, 52 END, 44 AGI, 44 MAG. Basically I a fighter with some magical spells.

And yet...

I can't even get past this first beastie.  Are the statues somehow critical to getting through this level or more?  Is the statues speaking to you somehow important to the game storyline? Are they supposed to give me some item(s) or some skill/ability that I'll need? I have stood on every single tile in that open statue garden. I tried to attack the statues and had no result. I even tried to see if I could get close enough by way of the dead-end corridors on the left and right side of the statues. Nothing.

Anybody got any ideas?

It's generally well thought of to just place your first 30 points into endurance afor a total of 40 at level 1 and then ignore it forever. I am unsure about the statues not talking to you as they do have a large bit to do with the storyline. The hydras are so tough because of the super high agility they posess plus a stackable poison attack. With a fighter they are my bane. I'm surprised you managed to get that far with plate, but I do love my shields. I'm unsure if by beastie you mean hydra (as I can't see a close fighter getting past them on anything but casual) or the god statues. In either case they actually repeat their speech if you reenter that level after exiting to sixteen.

1) Well, I must admit that I don't look forward to having to re-fight my character thru 12 levels again (not to mention losing all the cool stuff I've found), but I suppose that if it's a requirement, I can do that. If I read things in other postings, there are currently 29 levels and at this stage I'm only 50% done.

2) As for the statues, I tried going down to level 16 and then right back up again and they still don't talk to me. I tried all the things I described in my post above but they still don't talk. Do I have be be carrying something? Do I have to NOT be carrying something? Is there an item that I need to have and equip it? Do I need a certain amount of gold or some other kind of item? I've tried casting all the spells I have while facing each of the 3 statues. Is it supposed to be simply a matter of walking up to them and they talk? (Maybe CodeZombie can address this as a hint or something...)

3) And yes, the (5-headed) hydra is the beastie I mean. When I appear on level 16, I can only go 2 steps to the right for a dead-end, or 5 steps to the left for a dead-end, or I can go straight and then to the right and there he is (and I die horribly) :-)

4) As for trying to get past that hydra and on to the rest of the game, if I DO remake my character, is it not recommended to be primarily a fighter? I find them to be my most enjoyable character. I do about 10% of my fighting from a distance with a long bow bow (6d6 +22 Mana) for the few instances like the boss on 14, or for some of the other tough bosses I've run across. Since there is no game mechanic for being sneaky and hiding, it seems like most characters are somewhere between a fighter with a bit of magic (me), or else a magic user who can fight a little. Yeah, I know that you can have an archer fighter too. What are you recommending as a proper balance? How many HP does your character have?

5) As a final thought, is the 30 points into endurance pretty much a requirement in order to win (or even complete) the game? I can't really imagine anyone figuring that out themselves. If it helps you to make a more educated judgement of my character, with absolutely nothing equipped on me, my stats are HP:167, MP:136, AC:15, STR:34, END:31, AGI:30, MAG:30

Perhaps there is some sort of problem with saving the conversation state on that level. They shouldn't talk again if you move between levels. I'll look at the code to figure out why this may occur.

I'll add in the new potions in the next update. There will be a cure poison potion that will make it easier to get past the hydras.
